How to use a Fragrance Lamp?

Fragrance lamps were initially used in hospitals, health centers, and morgues because of their ability to remove bad odor and eliminate bacteria contaminating the environment. Today, they have become household items, as people find these lamps extremely beneficial both for aromatic purposes and hygienic purposes. The special alcohol based liquid used in the lamp contains essentials oils that purify air, destroy bacteria, and also repel insects.

Using a fragrance lamp is very simple. You will find that the lamp is basically made up of five parts; the base, shade, cap, wick, and stone. In order to start using the lamp, you need to remove the shade and take off the cap. Hereís the interesting part of making the lamp work. You need to fill the lamp with fragrance oil, which is used to burn the lamp. Choosing the fragrance that most compliments you, fill about two thirds of the lamp with this oil. Take care not to spill the oil while filling so that the lampsí exterior is clean and not drenched in oil. Next, you need to insert the wick into the lamp and then close it with the cap. Wait for at least fifteen to twenty minutes so that the wick is completely soaked in the bottleís fragrance. Now, remove the cap and light the wick using a match or a lighter. After two minutes, blow out the flame and pull back the shade. Enjoy the aroma of your chosen fragrance. In order to have the best effect, allow the lamp to burn for about half an hour to forty five minutes, so that its fragrance infuses all through the room and cleanses the air.

In case you need to extinguish the lamp, just replace the cap and then pull back the lampís shade. There are a few points that every buyer needs to keep in mind when using a fragrance lamp. Firstly, never over fill the lamp with fragrance oil, because this will cause the stone to saturate with oil and the lamp will not light properly. Keep in mind that the lamp will start working only after the flame is extinguished. Since the flame is required just to heat the stone, never keep it on for more than two minutes. The lamp works best and lasts longer when you allow it to burn for about half an hour before it is put off. Avoid mixing different fragrance oils to get your own mix as this might damage the burner. Though the lampís burner is designed to be lighted several times, it is best if you change the burner every year in order to get the best of the results from your fragrance lamp.
